Event applications are open!

A week-long programme of satellite events that brings the NZ game industry and public together.  The Wellington Games Week initiative is dedicated to nurturing the growth of game development in New Zealand and provides a platform with which a variety of activities and events can be run under the one umbrella, fostering learning, fun, collaboration and inclusivity; while helping those events and activities reach a wider audience with greater support.

Successful applications

This year, WGW kicks-off with the Kiwi Games Zone public day at the NZ Game Developers Conference on Saturday 27th September and ends a week later on 4th October with the Great Games with Pals Convention.

Applications undergo a rigorous review and NZGDA reserves the right to reject an application based on its merits and cohesiveness within the overall program. Feedback is always provided to unsuccessful applicants.

Successful applicants will be notified by email within two weeks of application submission.

All successful applicants are required to agree to the following stipulations that accompany all WGW events:

  • The event will be staged within the WGW dates (27 September - 4 October)

  • The event will be self-funded and self-managed

  • The event will be of a high standard and align with the values and vision of WGW including but not limited to accessibility, safety and sustainability

  • The event will have any necessary permits and comply with laws and regulations

  • The event must include the WGW logo on marketing collateral including but not restricted to; website, social media, printed material and third-party booking sites

  • The event organisers agree to provide a minimum two (2) complimentary invitations to NZGDA to be used at its discretion

  • The event organisers agree to provide NZGDA with video and/or photos of the event for use in current and future promotion on website, social media 

  • The event organisers agree to participate in a post event evaluation and share non-financial information such as event attendance numbers with NZGDA within one month of conclusion
